This learning situation sets real-world challenges to estimate crowds and cells through the use of dynamic simulators and collaborative spreadsheets. The aim is to develop statistical and critical thinking through statistical sampling techniques.

Recipients: 3rd ESO (any ESO year).

Duration:

2-3 class sessions (50-55 minutes per session). Research and analysis phase.

Objectives:

  • To apply statistics in real-world crowd counting situations.
  • Estimation by sampling and average behaviour.
  • Results analysis.

Sustainable Development Goals:

The contents are of horizontal relevance in applying statistics to social and health problems (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, in counting cells, SDG 4: Quality Education, in fostering critical thought, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities, in managing safe crowd capacity).
